DELF and DALF Diplomas
J'Adore Le Français is offering preparatory courses for the DELF and DALF diplomas.
OVERALL DESCRIPTION

The DELF (Diplôme d’études en langue française) and DALF (Diplôme approfondi de langue française) constitute a set of official French proficiency tests administered by the French Ministry of Education.

In addition to granting you access to French universities without taking a required language test, these French certifications provide you with an official document attesting your French language skills and add credibility to your resume. These tests are recognized throughout the world as well as valued by French and European employers.
The DELF and DALF are the French equivalent of the English proficiency test TOEFL but are quite different. They do not provide a single score but consist of multiple independent levels.

The French speaker’s proficiency is identified by the highest certificate obtained. Both DELF and DALF test four language proficiencies (reading, writing, listening, and speaking) and are consistent with the standard levels defined by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages:

DELF

The DELF is composed of four independent certifications.

1. DELF A1: This level recognizes basic knowledge. It is the most basic level at which a language is used, called the “discovery” stage. At this stage, the learner can interact in a simple way: he/she can speak about him/herself and his/her immediate environment.

2. DELF A2: This level is based on the same principle: it recognizes the linguistic competency of a basic user, considered as a social actor. The candidate can communicate in simple and routine tasks requiring the most common polite phrases and exchanges of information.

3. DELF B1: At this level, the user becomes independent. He/she can maintain interaction: he/she can understand and maintain a discussion and give his/her opinion. He/she is capable of dealing with situations likely to arise in daily life.

4. DELF B2: A B2 user has a degree of independence that allows him/her to construct arguments to defend his/her opinion, explain his/her viewpoint and negotiate. At this level, the candidate has a degree of fluency and spontaneity in regular interactions and is capable of correcting his/her own mistakes.

There is also a specially adapted version of the DELF diploma for teenagers (DEFL Junior).
DALF

The DALF is composed of two independent certifications.

1. DALF C1: Language users at level C1 are independent. They can express themselves fluently and spontaneously . They have a large vocabulary and can choose the appropriate expression to introduce their comments. They can produce clear, well-structured discourse without hesitation and which shows controlled use of structures.

2. DALF C2: At this level, users’ proficiency in the language is illustrated by precision, appropriateness and fluency of expression. C2 candidates are capable of using the language for academic and advanced-level purposes.

Students who have passed the DALF (C1 or C2) are exempt from taking required language tests for entrance into French universities.
OUR DELF AND DALF COURSES

Our instructors work closely with you in order to assess your level and determine which examination you should take first. They provide you with a personalized plan designed for your specific level and pace of study.

Through practice exercises, sample tests and home assignments you will strengthen your weaker areas and acquire the necessary skills to pass the exam you are studying for.
Students usually need at least 10 months of preparation at a rate of a one-hour lesson per week to be ready to pass the exam to the next level, depending on their pace of study and available time. That time frame can be reduced by increasing the number of sessions a week.

We offer these preparation courses in packages of 10 prepaid sessions.
