COURSE DESCRIPTION
We are working with middle school, high school and college students at all levels from beginner to advanced to reinforce grammar understanding and applications, writing skills, reading comprehension, literature, conversational skills, and vocabulary.
We provide help with homework and curriculum to insure our students are on top of things and have a deep understanding of concepts. We also emphasize reviews of previous exams which are helpful in grasping notions needed for future exams and gauging overall progress in the course.
In addition we prepare our students to take standardized French tests such as the AP, SAT I and SAT II. Our teachers set up strategies to reinforce individual strengths and overcome weaknesses. They also focus on critical exam strategies and retention techniques to build up test-taking confidence.
Our students who are taking French at school, usually have their own textbook provided by their school teacher. Our tutors adjust to these textbooks and provide additional handouts with supplemental grammar explanations and practice exercises.
BENEFITS
Better Education Access
Various researches have shown that students taking foreign language classes usually score higher on standardized tests.
The College Board announced in 2004 that students who completed at least four years of foreign-language study scored more than 100 points higher on each section of the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) than students who took a half year or less [3].
Students who were in rigorous programs in high school -that included three years of foreign language study- were likely to earn better grades in colleges and less likely to drop out [4].
Today education is widely considered as an investment in one’s future and is growing more competitive. Better education increases people’s quality of life as it gives access to better jobs and higher wages. In the United States, access to high-ranked universities and other schools has considerably become more difficult and is expected to continue to grow more competitive in the next decades. Therefore students need to be extremely well prepared in all subjects including French. Working closely with a French tutor will undoubtedly help students earn better grades, excel in their French class and succeed academically.
